The Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL is a complete and integrated data management tool. It combines everything from DDF editing, data file editing, import, export, file creation, file modification, rebuild and more. You can start with an existing DDF or Btrieve file, or create a brand new one. You can rebuild files, export data or DDF definitions. It combines an explorer type interface with a set of tabbed grids. It is very easy to use.

The Data Manager uses an easy to see and use interface. Everything is easily accessable with the explorer type tree view and tabbed grids. The explorer tree view allows you to easily switch views from table to table. And easily switch from a DDF Table view to a Data File view and explore every aspect of your DDF and Data files. You can also easily select fields, set field masks, set filters, and indexes for browsing, editing and exporting data.

The Data Manager for Pervasive SQL and Btrieve does not use ODBC for reading the Btrieve files. So there is no need to purchase or configure an ODBC driver. It does not even need a Data Dictionary (DDF) and can work directly with a Btrieve file. It supports all versions of Pervasive SQL and Btrieve. It even Plugs into our 32 Bit Power Pack for Btrieve so you can use it on older Netware Btrieve and 16 bit Btrieve systems.

The enterprise version adds a configurable data management facility, command line, and ActiveX interfaces. The management facility provides a way to configure operations to Pervasive SQL and Btrieve databases. Lets say to want to export an entire database to tab delimited text files or either a Microsoft Access or SQL Server database. With the Management facility of the Enterprise edition you can select the table you want to export. For each table you can select the fields you want to export. You can set a filter to select only the records you want. And much more. You can execute this configuration or save it to a file and execute it later. You can even pass this configuration to the command line or an ActiveX control and execute it as a batch process or from within a scheduling program, report writer, etc. There are numerous possibilities for integrating this with other applications. Or if you simply want an easy to use, reliable and repeatable tool for database export.

DacEasy support

The Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL is a MIDI application that treats a DDF or individual Btrieve file as a document. You can have multiple DDF and/or Btrieve files open at the same time. Via a tree view and a set of tabbed grids everything is easily seen and modifiable.

DDF File Creation and Editing

• Browse and edit even the largest DDF Files.
• Supports all Pervasive SQL and Btrieve data types.
• Generate a starting DDF definition from an existing Btrieve file. You do not need a DDF definition for a Btrieve file. Simply select the file and it will generate a starting DDF definition for you.
• Export and import DDF definitions to a text file format. Backup your work to text formats. Share DDF definitions between users. Merge, and split DDF files.
• Easily view and edit your DDF via a set of tabbed grids.
• Supports overlapping fields.
• Supports multiple data fields within the variable length portion of records.
• Unlike other tools the Data Manager lets you make the changes you need to make in order to get your work done. With features like overlapping and non contiguous field support, multiple fields in variable length records, and much more you are never boxed in.
• Direct support for DacEasy data dictionary files. With DacEasy you do not need a standard DDF file but can read the DacEasy proprietary data dictionaries (deactbl.db and deaccol.db) directly. You can use the DacEasy data dictionary files just like a standard DDF.

Data File Editing

• Browse and edit even the largest files. Unlike other tools it is very fast on even huge files.
• Sort on any key (index) or by physical position.
• Filter the records you want to see via a SQL syntax.

• Exports to Btrieve files. Rebuild or recover your existing files. Merge one or more data files into one. Create Bttrieve files with a subset of your data.
• Exports to standard Btrieve Sequential files. Export complete or subsets of your data to these file formats.
• Exports to the Clipboard.
• Field masks that are applied via the field view are applied on the exports.
• Imports text and Sequential file formats.

Enterprise Version Features

• Exports to any Database or text file format. Microsoft Access, SQL Server, ODBC DSN, OLE DB Provider or any fixed or delimited text file.
• High speed exports to database formats. Special speed options and a super fast load (10-20X boost) for SQL Server tables.
• Like the standard edition it does not require ODBC for reading the Btrieve files.
• Has a configurable management function for export, rebuild and more. You can execute these configurations or save and reload them later. Supports both encrypted and plain text configuration files.
• The Management grid has 35 different settings controlling every aspect of the operation from the output formats, traversal order, output locations, overwrite options, etc. These can all be saved and reloaded from configuration files. Most of these can be left at default and the product has wizards for configuring any database connection.
• You can map any field (or column) in any Btrieve file with any field (or column) in the target database file.
• A command line interface to execute management configuration files. Easily integrate execution of configuration files with scheduling programs, the desktop or anything supporting a command line interface.
• An ActiveX interface for for easy execution of an export configuration files from within other programming tools and report writers.

The Data Manager enterprise management facility provides an easy to use grid for configuring database operations to be performed on your Pervasive SQL and Btrieve database files. Export data to other tables, fixed or delimited text files, Access, Excel, SQL Server, or any ODBC or OLEDB compliant databases. Or Rebuild files and recover files. Execute or save these configuration files. You can even pass them to the Enterprise version command line or ActiveX interface for execution. Simple and easy to use

The Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL is a very simple program to use. It is organized as a MIDI application with the DDF or Data File as a document. Every part of DDF and or data file is visible to you. It makes many complex operations easy.

If you do not have a DDF then simply pick your data file. The Data Manager will generate fields for you. Fields that it can definitely determine their types will be ordered Field000, Field001, etc. Sections of the record for which it cannot with certainty determine the data type will be marked as Unknown and listed as Unknown000, Unknown001, etc. These fields will be defined as strings. All fields can be viewed as text, alphanumeric, hexadecimal, binary coded decimal (BCD), and binary. It also generate all of the file and index information for you for a DDF. You should be able to create a DDF for almost any file.

When used without a DDF it will generate fields for you. And easy and quick way to build a DDF from a set of data files.

Export your Data to a number of interchange formats

With the Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL you can export your data to a number of interchange formats for easy reimport back into Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Excel and many other database applications. It supports export to fixed size formats for mainframe and FTP. The Enterprise version can export directly to Microsoft Access, Excel, Foxpro, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 or any other ODBC or OLE DB compliant database. And you can export only the fields and data that you want.

Select the fields you want for data editing and export. View them as their own type (normal) or a different format like hex, BCD, binary, or alphanumeric.

Select a standard format for export or create your own custom one.

Quick viewing and editing of the attributes of your data file. Whether viewing a file or DDF the Data Manager always lets you view and edit the attributes of your data files.

Browsing and editing your data files is simple. You can select the fields you want to edit, set a filter using SQL syntax, insert update or delete records, and export to large number of interchange formats.

View your System Tables

With the Data Manager for Btrieve and Pervasive SQL you can view and edit your system tables as well. Easily view and edit file.ddf, field.ddf, index.ddf, etc. Edit them just like any othe Btrieve file. A great feature for troubleshooting many Btrieve and Pervasive SQL problems.
